Propagation Systems for Intermediate Cuttings
These half automated systems use a carousel in which group wise "cups" are placed in which you put in (by hand) long branches of material. The machine automatically sizes these branches, takes away the bottom leaves (if needed) and transplants the short cutting in the trays. The principle of the system is that you only have to place base material, from which the machine can make several cuttings. The more cuttings per branch, the more efficient the machine will be.
On average you will need 2 persons to process up to 8.000 cuttings/hour. Calculating a cost saving of roughly 0,5 cent/cutting, the pay back time of these systems is between 8 and 10 million cuttings (in total!)
